I love drinking coffee. It doesn’t matter if it’s a drip, espresso, pour over or a sweet latte – I don’t discriminate, I’ll drink it all.
Fortunately, we have a lot of really good local coffee shops in Owensboro. Each of our best Owensboro coffee shops has their own seasonal blends and unique takes on their coffee.
In this post, you’ll find a complete list of the best coffee shops in Owensboro. Let’s get started.

The Creme Coffee House
The Creme Coffee House is a locally owned coffee shop located in downtown Owensboro since 2008, serving up delicious brewed coffee, sweet baked treats and nutritious smoothies.
When you first walk in, you notice the indie funky vibe. The workers are lively and friendly. There’s beautiful artwork on the walls along with the original brickwork from the building. This coffee shop is the place to be and hang out and pick up a fresh cup of coffee.
The menu at the Creme Coffee House is very diverse and has a lot of specialty drinks, lattes, fresh roasted beans and sandwiches. Don’t forget to get a fresh baked dessert with your coffee.

Red Swing Coffee
Right around the corner near the riverfront is another very similar coffee shop called Red Swing Coffee. It’s locally owned and operated by Brandon & Brittney Dukes.
Red Swing began as a bakery in 2021 but began brewing into something much bigger. They started offering coffee along with their sweet treats and bakery. Eventually they added in sandwiches, acai bowls, waffles and other items to their menu.
They serve up all kinds of specialty drinks, lattes, cold brew, drip coffee and more.

Niko’s Bakery & Cafe
On nearly every food or drink list of mine is Niko’s Bakery. They are a European style bakery that offers a large selection of coffee, fresh baked bread and sandwiches.
Niko’s Bakery offers breakfast, lunch and dinner with a wide variety of sandwiches throughout the day. You visit this restaurant cafe for any meal.
The drink menu is large and they can pretty much make any style of coffee you would like. They also have daily specials where they create delicious sandwiches and meals that have the most unique flavor unlike any place in town.
My number one recommendation for Niko’s would be to try a cup of coffee with their fresh baked desserts. My personal two favorites are the Galaktoboureko, a sweet Greek dessert and the Ek Mek. Both are mouth watering and highly recommended.

Gramps Coffee & Donuts
If you are looking for coffee and donuts, then Gramps is where you need to be.
Gramps Coffee & Donuts is located downtown on Frederica Street and creates the most unique and tastiest donuts in town. They also serve up delicious, fresh brewed coffee to go along with your sweet donut.
Gramps offers a wide variety of specialty drinks and coffee including drip coffee, cold brew, espresso, teas and more.
Their signature donuts include the original glaze, maple glaze, cinnamon sugar and unique seasonal donuts.

Kahawa Java
Another locally owned coffee shop that just recently opened is Kahawa Java, owned by mother-daughter Ticy and Ayanna Cox.
They opened the coffee shop because they try to live by the motto “coffee and conversation.”
Kahawa Java offers a wide variety of specialty drinks such as coffee, lattes, iced coffee and more.
While getting your coffee, you can treat yourself with fresh baked pastries from Get Baked OBKY.
